Hanah Jon Taylor is a jazz musician, and recently opened Cafe Coda, a jazz club in Madison. He was also recently chosen to receive a lifetime achievement award from the Madison Area Music Awards (MAMAs). When he sat he was an hour late, but had some good stories, and jokes. The combination of really wanting a successful piece and having less than the usual amount of time resulted in a sense of attentiveness, decisiveness and energetic, bold brushwork that I strive for but often evades me.
